Biographical / Historical
Clarence was born April 23, 1906 to George William Koob and Ella Elizabeth Tobin Koob in Cedar Rapids, IA. He attended Xavier High School in Dyersville, IA where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He attended Columbia (Loras) College from 1924-1928 where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. He pitched professional baseball from 1924-1925 for the Milwaukee Brewers and from 1924-1927 for Dubuque, Madison, and Rock Island teams.
In 1930 he began teaching at Jefferson Jr. High School in Dubuque. He received a Masters in Instruction from the University of Iowa in 1937. He was inducted into the Dubuque Baseball Hall of Fame in 1988 and the Loras College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992. He died on September 28, 1970. He married Margaret Ann “Mardie” Donahue Koob on December 26, 1931.
